Zolah (Daniel de Oliveira) the “human cannonball” returns home to the island of Fernando de Noronha, off the coast of Pernambuco State as one of the attractions of the popular Netuno Circus. Zolah is a celebrity in his own town which makes his mother Rosa (Sandra Coverloni) and sister Raquel (Carolina Abras) very proud. Zolah’s attempts to lead a normal life with his family while on the island make things rather odd when he finds out that Raquel, whom he is secretly in love, is now engaged to Cangulo. When all of a sudden the circus’ ringmaster, Kaleb disappears without a clear explanations; the rest of the performers start realizing that the island is having a strange effect on all of them.

Lírio Ferreira’s latest feature film showcases the differences between a simple life and the glamour of life on the road. Ferreira’s main character Zolah is faced with the dilemma of being a top performer in his hometown while dealing with personal and professional mishaps. – Andres Castillo
